Environment a top 10 issue for Democrats and Decline to State (nonpartisan) Voters

This almost certainly reflects differences in underlying partisan views of how involved the government should be in fixing societal problems, with Democrats significantly more likely than Republicans to say government should be used to fix problems. Californian Voters Rank Improving Local Water Supplies as Top Solution to Drought
Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz & Associates (FM3) recently conducted a survey of 1,000 California voters likely to cast ballots in November 2014 to assess their views on key water issues facing the state.1 The results show that voters are enormously concerned about water supply in the face of the current drought, and support a multi-pronged approach to dealing with the state’s water needs. More than nine in ten voters agree that the state is facing a serious drought, and that all Californians – including farmers – need to do their part to conserve water. More than four in five say that the state’s water needs are so critical that we need to make investments now to address them. Critically, voters also say that they are willing to pay more on their water bills in order to fund solutions to the state’s water needs. Read more…

Voters Consider California’s Drought “EXTREMELY SERIOUS”
Nearly all California voters (88%) believe the state is undergoing a serious water shortage. However, there is no clear consensus about whether the situation is due more to a lack of water storage and supply facilities in the state, or users not using existing supplies efficiently enough. Statewide, 27% cite the former, 37% the latter and another 24% say both are equally responsible. Read more…

Latino Voters Take The Environment Personally
Sightline Daily – Anna Fahey
9-in-10 say we have “a moral responsibility to take care of God’s creation.” For overwhelming numbers of Latino voters in the US, protecting the environment seems to be a very personal matter. It’s a matter of protecting families and the health of loved ones, safeguarding communities’ way of life, and taking responsibility for the future. It’s a matter of safe jobs and neighborhoods. It’s about being true to one’s core values. Read more…
